CLA 5K Wonder Run & Walk 2020

CLA 5k WONDER Run & Walk


May 9th, 2020, 8:30 am

Forest Ridge Park, Wake Forest NC


Have fun with your friends and family, get fit, raise a little money, and make this event a success for Commission students and Teachers!  Money raised will go to support students and teachers, providing needed materials, books, resources, teacher training and much more.  We welcome you to come and cheer on your favorite race participant or register to enter the 5k Run/Walk or 1 Mile Family Fun Run.  This year, race participants must choose between one of the two race options.

The Event

  • Race check-in ( 8-8:30 am )

  • 5k Run/Walk or 1 Mile Family Fun Run ( 8:30 am )

  • Prizes and Post-race Ice Cream Celebration ( 9:30-10:30 am )

  • Bring a lawn chair if you would like and a picnic lunch to enjoy.

Run/Walk Entry Fee

  • $10 per person

  • Entry fee includes participation in the 5k Run/Walk (OR) the 1 Mile Family Fun Run.  This year participants must choose one or the other race and can not participate in both. 

The Details

  • 5k Run/Walk participants must be a minimum of 6 years old to enter the race.

  • 1 Mile Family Fun Run participants may be any age. 


(For either race, all children 6 years old and under must be accompanied by an adult.)

Preparing for the Race

  • Get a good night's rest—at least 8 hours.

  • Eat about 2 hours before the race. Enjoy something high energy and easily digestible and not too heavy on the stomach. 

  • Make sure you are well hydrated, but do not guzzle a lot of water 30 minutes before there race.  Just sip a little water as needed. 

  • Arrive 20-30 minutes before race time. There's a lot to be done on race morning including parking, warming up, check-in, etc. 

  • About 15 minutes prior to the race, get warmed up.  Gently stretch, run in place, gradually elevate your heart rate.
